Our research on Mediterranean white sharks was featured in a report broadcast on BBC Breakfast, one of the United Kingdom’s most-watched morning news programs.

The report showcases our ongoing efforts to understand and conserve the last remaining Mediterranean white sharks through fisheries monitoring, satellite tagging, biological sampling, and collaboration with local fishing communities across the Mediterranean.

The feature includes footage from our fieldwork and an interview discussing the conservation challenges facing this unique population and the scientific discoveries emerging from our work.

Public engagement is an essential component of conservation. By bringing this research to a broad audience, the report helps raise awareness of the urgent need to protect the Mediterranean’s remaining white sharks and highlights how science can inform effective conservation action.

We are grateful to our collaborators, the local fishing communities, and Blue Marine Foundation for making this work possible.
